Every window company marketing list has the same items: profile, reviews, website, ads. None start with the problem that makes this trade different: the word "window" means an operating system, a cleaning service and an ad-platform setting before it means your product. This is the stack in order, built around that collision, a year-round demand curve, and the offer that replaced the federal credit.
Type "google ads for window" into Google and read what it suggests: Google Ads for Windows, the Ads editor for Windows, attribution window, conversion window, lookback window, and, last, Google Ads for window cleaning. "Facebook ads for window" gets window cleaning first and Ads Manager for Windows 10 second. "Marketing for window" returns window cleaning three times, then Microsoft, then window clings, tint and film. "Window replacement leads" reaches "window replacement lead paint" by the third suggestion, then six variations on replacement parts. We pulled every one of those from Google's autocomplete on September 18, 2026.
A fence company never deals with this; "fence company near me" means one thing. A window company is fighting an operating system, a separate trade with more marketing-services search volume than yours, the ad platforms' own jargon, and the EPA's lead-safe rule for pre-1978 homes. Each channel breaks in its own way.
Google Ads matches your terms to queries, so a broad "window replacement" campaign pays for "how to replace a window yourself," "car window replacement" and "free window replacement programs" before it reaches a homeowner with fogged glass. For a window company the negative-keyword list is the campaign. One window installer on r/Construction tried Google Ads and "spent a ton and mostly attracted people shopping for the absolute cheapest option who would ghost after the estimate." That is what the collision looks like on an invoice. The full starter list is on our Google Ads guide for window replacement contractors.
Meta has no keywords, so nothing filters the query; the collision shows up in the first second of the video instead. If the viewer does not see a house window, a hand on a sash, or a fogged pane before the headline lands, the ad reads as software or cleaning and scrolls past. Interest targeting on "windows" is worthless for the same reason. What works is the problem on screen: the draft, the fog, the window painted shut. That is the logic behind every structure on our window replacement ad examples page.
Your Google Business Profile competes inside whatever primary category you pick, and the window categories put installers next to glass shops, suppliers and cleaners. Local Service Ads is blunter: Google's own eligible-services list has no window replacement category, only "Window repair," so a whole-home replacement company enters under a repair-framed door. Both are covered below.
"Window and door marketing" is the one contractor-facing phrase Google autocompletes cleanly: "window and door marketing," "windows and doors marketing pros," "window and door contractor marketing." "Window company marketing" returns nothing. The trade press, the manufacturers and the largest dealers all use the same noun. Our URLs keep "window replacement" because that is what the homeowner types; the page uses the noun the trade uses.
The noun reflects how the job sells. Al Altieri, CEO of WindowRama, the largest stocking Andersen dealer in the country, told Qualified Remodeler's 2025 Top 500 survey: "When we help customers see the full picture, not just a window or a door, but a whole-home improvement, our average order value and close rates improve." Zonda's 2025 Cost vs. Value report explains why the door is the easy add: a steel entry door replacement recoups 216% of its cost at resale and a garage door 268%, while an upscale vinyl window job recoups 76% on a $22,073 ticket and wood 70% on $26,781. The door is the line item a homeowner can justify in a sentence; the window is the ticket.
Not every installer agrees. A 35-year window installer on r/Contractor: "We do install a bunch of doors every year, but we don't push the doors... replacement windows is where it's at." Both positions are legitimate. What is not available is a number: nobody publishes a door attach rate, so pull it from your own CRM. If a third of window jobs add a door, the door belongs in the creative. If it is one in twenty, it belongs on the estimate sheet.
Four layers, each one there because the layer before it is working. Then the two things to skip.
Budget first, because two independent sources agree. Qualified Remodeler's 2026 Top 500 survey of 252 replacement contractors found they spend an average of 12.1% of revenue on marketing, median 10%, roughly twice a full-service remodeler's share, and Window World's own franchise disclosure tells franchisees to budget "approximately 10% of your projected gross sales." Ten percent of revenue is the working number; the stack, the same layering we use on our fence marketing playbook, is how it splits.
FoundationThe profile converts whatever demand the ads create, so it comes first. The primary category decides which pool you compete in, and the review ask has to be a system. One window manufacturer and installer on r/Contractor described his: thank-you cards with a QR code to Google, a $25 crew bonus for any five-star review, handed over in the warranty packet at the final walkthrough. He went from 3.8 on 20 reviews to over 100 at 4.8 in about a year. The category decision and photo strategy are on our Google Business Profile guide for window contractors.
Growth engineMeta creates demand instead of waiting for it, which matters more for windows than for seasonal trades because the demand curve is flat. US Google Trends for "replacement windows" peaks in July and August at an index of 121 to 126 against a December and January trough of 84 to 89, about a 1.4x swing. Decking swings threefold over the same year, which is why our deck marketing playbook is built around one spring window and this one around an always-on budget.
Under that flat curve sit two opposite pains. "Drafty windows" searches, low volume but unmistakable in shape, peak from November through January and sit near zero from April to September. "Energy efficient windows" bumps in February when the heating bills land, collapses in May, then spikes in July. So the angles rotate with the calendar, not the budget: heat and AC bills from June through September, drafts and cold rooms from October through February. One evergreen "save on energy bills" ad fights the wrong pain half the year. Angi's guide adds an honest off-season line: fall and winter are off-peak, with faster scheduling and no frost-line constraint. What the leads cost once the ads run, and how the season moves the number, is on what Facebook ads cost for a window company.
Add once Meta producesGoogle Ads is demand capture, and it earns its place once the phone is already ringing from Meta. In Qualified Remodeler's survey it was the largest single lead source for replacement contractors at 12.1% of leads, ahead of aggregators at 11.1% and referrals at 10.6%. It is also where the collision costs money per click, which is why it comes third: build the negative list and the exact-match terms before the budget.
OptionalWindows is an LSA category, but only as "Window repair," and the job types under it run to foggy panes, broken glass and emergency calls. The badge is now "Google Verified" (Google Guaranteed is retired), and Google no longer credits leads for job types you don't service. For a company selling $12k whole-home replacements, that is a category built for a $400 call. The full read is on our Local Service Ads guide for window contractors.
SkipAngi's own site says a lead goes to three or four contractors, and the FTC ordered HomeAdvisor to pay up to $7.2 million in 2023 for unsubstantiated claims about how often its leads became jobs. The ticket math is on our Angi leads for window contractors page, and the cost-per-booked-appointment comparison on how to get window replacement leads. Skip the straight discount too: once one company in a market runs it, everyone copies it within months.
Not a case study we made up. Real ads, real spend, real leads.
The receipt reads: 237 landing-page leads at $112.17 each on $26,584 of managed spend, on a window replacement account. Those leads are for whole-home window replacement that runs $8,000 to $15,000 per job, so the lead is about one percent of the $12k job it is chasing. None of the leads in this report came from Meta's native instant forms. All are landing-page conversions. The plain data behind them: 1,247,975 impressions at a $21.30 CPM and a 2.78% unique click-through rate.
A window replacement client reports booking 45% of the leads we generate; in a different period the same client reported 50–60%. At the 45% booking rate the client reports, that's $249.27 per booked estimate. That is the number to manage the stack to, because the in-home appointment is where a window sells. For scale across the trades we run: "Across eight trades and $139,167 of managed spend, cost per lead ran from $29.45 to $119.18 — 2,635 leads in total." The account story, and how the seasons moved it, is on our window replacement Meta ads guide.
July 2023 to August 2026 · Meta Ads Manager
For three years the offer wrote itself: "up to $600 back from the government." The 25C tax credit that paid it terminated for any property placed in service after December 31, 2025, per the IRS's guidance on Public Law 119-21, and a window ad still promising it in 2026 is a false claim. Every window and door company now has to decide what stands in its place, and that decision is the positioning.
Three honest replacements exist. Financing: Andersen's own site describes deferred payment and low minimum monthly payments as widely available through its dealers, so a local company without a payment line is competing against one that leads with it. Rebates: utility programs like Mass Save pay per window, $75 in 2026 for single-pane to ENERGY STAR Most Efficient, only where a named program exists. And the energy claim done right: ENERGY STAR's own figure is up to 13% off household energy bills when replacing single-pane windows, baseline named every time. Whatever you pick, it has to be one a competitor cannot screenshot: a transferable warranty your product line carries, a one-day install with the crew on payroll, the way you handle the measure. How each works, and the Meta rules that decide whether a payment ad keeps its ZIP targeting, are on our window financing and rebates page.
The trap on the other side is the gimmick. Homeowners are on record asking whether any window ad on Facebook is legitimate, after years of $189 bait windows, neighborhood-discount door knocks and tonight-only pricing. Under the FTC's Cooling-Off Rule every in-home sale of $25 or more is cancellable for three business days; saying so out loud is the cheapest positioning line in the trade.
We build the growth-engine layer on top of your foundation. Your only job is to run the appointment.
Profile category, reviews, the negative-keyword list if Google is already running, and every claim in your current ads, including any tax-credit line that died on January 1, 2026.
A reason to choose you that no competitor can copy, with a payment line your lender's plan can actually produce and any rebate named to the utility and the year.
Video built around the draft, the fog and the stuck sash, with a house window in the first second, and a landing page whose form qualifies the homeowner before the phone number.
Heat in summer, drafts in winter, budget on all year; Google layered in once cost per booked estimate says it will pay.
