Angi, Thumbtack, Modernize, Networx, Porch, Google's Local Services Ads, two exclusive-lead agencies, and the four manufacturer programs, each scored on what it publishes, what it charges, and whether it can put a $15k to $40k deck on your calendar. Where a company won't say, we say so, and where a number is ours, we say that too.
Strip off the logos and every company that will sell a deck builder leads runs one of five models. Deck has one the fence and remodeling trades don't: the manufacturer program, where the price of a lead is the composite you buy, not dollars per name. Know the model and you know most of what will happen to your money.
Angi Leads (which is what HomeAdvisor became), Thumbtack, Modernize, Networx, and Porch. A homeowner fills out one form and the marketplace sells it to several builders at once; Angi's own site says 3 to 4. You are buying a spot in a race, and the marketplace gets paid by everyone in it. On r/Decks the verdict is blunt: one builder keeps his Angi leads paused because every lead that gets through is a dead number or a homeowner ten contractors already called.
Local Services Ads: one lead, one builder, priced by Google, at the top of the results. Google has no deck category, so you advertise under Carpenters or General contractor and inherit their calls.
Minyona and Service Allies sell deck leads from ads run one builder per market. You get exclusivity, on someone else's creative and account.
TrexPro, TimberTech's The Board, Fiberon's Certified Installer program, and Deckorators Certified Pro: a locator listing, a labor warranty you can sell, and a lead promise that ranges from mechanical to a single word. Their own section is below.
Meta or Google ads under your own name. The leads come to you alone and the reviews and pixel data compound for you; the trade is that targeting, creative, and follow-up become your job or an agency's fee. Our deck Meta ads guide is the long version.
Every price is from the company's own page or a named contractor report. Where a card says "none published," that is the finding.
The only deck lead sources priced in material volume instead of dollars per lead. Read from each program's own page, quoted exactly.
Homeowners do start here: one on r/Decks went "right through the Trex site" to find a certified installer. Builders are cooler on it. One on the Trex list said they don't get very many leads from it, and another said his Deckorators certification arrived after a rep came by with donuts. Here is what each program commits to in writing.
Manufacturer programs list you; they do not fill your calendar. The verifiable value is the labor warranty you can put in a proposal and, on TimberTech, cash back on boards you were buying anyway. Join for those and count the leads as a bonus. The homeowner who arrives through a locator has already picked the material, and our composite decking leads page is about reaching her and the one still deciding.
New, no reviews, empty March? Set up your Google Business Profile with the Deck builder category and real photos, get on the locator for the brand you install, and cap a small Thumbtack or Angi test at what one lost estimate is worth. Rent leads to buy time, and read the contract before you sign a year of it.
Steady in summer, dead in winter? That is the deck business, and it is where your own ads earn their keep. A homeowner decides on a summer deck in the off-season, when a marketplace has almost nothing to sell you. Meta under your own name through the quiet months is where we start deck clients; what Facebook ads cost for a deck builder puts a budget to it.
Booked out months and choosing jobs? Stop buying shared leads. You need fewer, better leads for the composite jobs you want: exclusive, with material, size, and timeline asked before the site visit, plus Google Ads for in-season searches.
Want exclusivity without learning the platforms? Compare the exclusive-lead agencies and an ad agency on three questions: the fee on top of ad spend, the contract length, and who owns the account, the pixel, and the creative when you leave. If the answer to the last one is "we do," you are renting again.
One deck builder account. Real spend, real leads, nobody else on the lead.
Stellar Decking builds composite decks on the Greater Seattle Eastside, and we run their Meta ads. No marketplace, no locator, no shared form: talking-head and customer-voice video of decks they built, an offer made for their market, and a landing page that asks the qualifying questions first. In one 30-day stretch those ads helped close $121,000 in new deck jobs.
The account receipt: 58 leads at $76.55 each on $4,440 of managed spend, on a deck builder account, for custom composite decks that run $15k to $40k. Beside Zonda's 2025 figure of $25,096 for a typical contractor-built composite deck with rail, the lead cost is a rounding error on one job. By our own estimate across accounts, 50 to 80% of Meta leads book into estimates.
Issaquah, WA · Greater Seattle Eastside · March through August 2026
The last card on the scorecard, spelled out. You walk the yard and quote the deck; we run everything before that.
A reason to book a design visit now, built on what your company does differently, not a discount every builder copies by spring.
Backyard before-and-afters, walk-throughs, and customers in their own words, from jobs you built. Never stock.
A landing page that asks material, size, and timeline up front, so the composite buyer and the budget buyer arrive already sorted.
Heavier in the off-season when homeowners decide, steady through the build season, cost per lead watched daily. The account stays yours.
